Guest Coach:

Jenn Hess

Ever heard of the Rowdy Gowdy? Yep, she's the vision and creator behind that incredible women's bike camp in Wyoming!

Jenn's main goal in life is to get more kids and women on bikes. She loves pushing the limits and helping other riders gain confidence on the bike.

She believes that any day on two wheels is a good day, especially if friends are involved.

Helmet
Ensure your helmet fits properly, is in proper working order, is properly adjusted, and is free of any cracks.

Mountain Bike

  • Suspension - We recommend all participants attend on a full suspension bike. At a minimum, please bring a bike with front suspension that works properly.

  • Tune Up - Get a bike check and tune by a qualified mechanic so it’s in great working order. We can assist with minimal repairs but we don’t always have the specific parts or tools needed for each bike.

  • Adjustable Seat Post Dropper - Though not required, we do recommend them for increased safety and fun.

Note: At this time we can only accommodate electric mountain bikes in our private lessons.

Demo Bikes

  • High-quality demo bikes are available and reservable ahead of time at our local bike shops.

  • If renting a bike and you use clipless pedals (meaning you ride clipped in), please bring your shoes + pedals.

  • Rental bikes typically come with a trailside repair kit. Thoroughly inspect it when you pick up your bike.

What's in Your Riding Pack

  • Water - At a minimum, bring 100 oz of water in a your riding pack + an additional water bottle with an electrolyte drink mix. Our desert climate requires frequent and accessible hydration on the bike to optimize your experience.

  • Snacks - Pack snacks in your pack to consume while on the trail.

  • Multi-tool

  • 2-3 tire levers

  • Patch kit

  • Hand pump and/or a CO2 cartridge and valve

  • Spare tube (that fits your bike's tire size)

  • Small roll of electrical or duct tape

  • Sunscreen

  • Small first aid kit  (although our coaches will also be prepared for this)

Shoes & Pedals

  • We suggest that everyone rides with flat pedals while wearing flat soled shoes (like skateboarding shoes) during skills as they help develop proper technique when learning new skills.

  • If you are super comfortable on your clipless pedals, consider trying the morning sessions with flats and then switching to clipless for the afternoon rides.

  • With that said, if you’re so comfortable with your clip / SPD pedals that you don't ever think about getting in or out of them, you don’t have to use flats. We want you to feel safe and comfortable with the shoes and pedals you choose.

NOTE: We also recognize that if you've never ridden flat pedals it can make riding and technical climbing feel quite different. If you are brand new to flats we highly recommend you practice with them and go on several rides prior to attending. Then we suggest you bring both pairs of shoes and pedals and you can decide if you want to wear flats during skill sessions and switch to your SPD / clips for the on trail ride sessions.

Riding Gloves, Leg and Arm pads

  • Wear riding gloves.

  • Leg & Arm Pads are recommended and enhance your safety and confidence. Leg and arm pads may be available for rent from our local bike shops.

Appropriate Clothing

We receive all kinds of weather! From wet and cold to very hot and dry. Because of this we ask you to be packed and prepared for any weather. Yes, pack the rain jacket even if it doesn’t look like rain.

  • sunglasses

  • rain jacket

  • pack layers
